Tiivistelmä
Opinnäytetyön tavoitteena oli kehittää hoitajien osaamista ikääntyneen syöpäsairaan saattohoidosta, saattohoitopotilaan kokemista oireista ja niiden hoidosta, jotta saattohoitoa voidaan toteuttaa laadukkaasti Keski-Uudenmaan hyvinvointialueen kotihoidossa.
Opinnäytetyön tarkoituksena oli tuottaa tietopaketti syöpäsairaan ikäihmisen saattohoidosta hyvinvointialueen kotihoidon työntekijöille.
Opinnäytetyön raporttiosuudessa käsiteltiin syöpää sairautena, saattohoitoa yleisesti sekä saattohoitoon yleisesti liittyviä oireita ja niiden hoitoa. Työn tuotoksena syntyi tietopaketti saattohoidosta kotihoidon työntekijöille, jota voidaan hyödyntää päivittäisen työn tukena saattohoitoa toteutettaessa.
Työyhteisöltä kerättiin palautetta tietopaketin asiasisällöstä sekä ulkoasusta, ja tietopakettia muokattiin saadun palautteen pohjalta. Lopullinen tuotos jäi työyhteisön käyttöön sekä kirjallisessa että sähköisessä muodossa. The aim of this thesis was to enhance nurses’ knowledge of hospice care for elderly cancer patients, focusing on the symptoms commonly experienced by hospice patients and their treatment. The goal was to support the delivery of high-quality hospice care within the home care services of the Central Uusimaa welfare area.
The specific objective of the thesis was to create an informative guide on hospice care for elderly cancer patients, intended for use by home care professionals in the region. The written section of the thesis explored cancer as a disease, provided an overview of hospice care, and discussed typical symptoms encountered in hospice patients, along with recommended treatment approaches.
The outcome of the project was a comprehensive information package designed to support home care workers in their daily practice when providing hospice care. Feedback on both the content and layout of the material was collected from the work community, and the information package was revised accordingly. The final version was made available to staff in both printed and digital formats.
