Tiivistelmä
The objective of this thesis was to improve the usability, visual design, and accessibility of the website of dance entrepreneur Sara Salminen and to create a redesigned website prototype for future implementation in WordPress. The work aimed to provide the client with a modern, user-centred design foundation that supports the visibility and credibility of the business.
The development process included an evaluation of the current website and a structured user survey conducted among fifteen IT students and industry colleagues. The feedback revealed several areas for improvement, including visual hierarchy, mobile responsiveness, page length, and image scaling. These findings informed the design of a new Figma-based prototype that presents a clearer structure, improved accessibility, updated colour palette and typography, and more intuitive navigation.
The theoretical framework consists of contemporary principles of user-centred design, interface design, visual hierarchy, and digital accessibility. Additionally, the thesis provides the client with an overview of Google Ads as a potential future marketing tool.
The outcome of the thesis is a comprehensive prototype that reflects user needs and supports the client’s long-term digital presence. The prototype serves as a practical roadmap for phased implementation and further development of the website.
