Tiivistelmä
Digital transformation was identified as one of the key agents of change in supply chain operations and this impelled the study on the impact of digital technology on the efficiency of the supply chain. The purpose of the work was to examine the existing academic literature that would reveal the processes by which digitalisation benefited operational performance and what factors contributed to the success of adoption. The qualitative approach toward the literature review was used and the academic publications related to the topic were thoroughly searched, screened and synthesised thematically. About 25 peer-reviewed and industry- related materials were analyzed in order to ascertain a comprehensive insight into the subject matter.

The analysis has shown that the technologies, including the Internet of Things, artificial intelligence, cloud computing, robotic automation, as well as blockchain, have been implemented to enhance visibility, forecasting accuracy, inventory management, collaboration, and resilience within supply chains. The outcomes also indicated that the organisational capabilities such as the leadership commitment, digital skills, data governance, and cultural readiness had been the determining factors in the effectiveness of digital transformation initiatives. Integration complexity barriers, financial limitations, skills gaps, and cybersecurity threats were also found.

The conclusion was that digital transformation resulted in greater efficiency of the supply chain in case technological investments were backed by organisational preparedness and strategic alignment. The results were added up to the theoretical insight and practical decision making on the construction of the digitally enabled, resilient and sustainable supply chains.
