Tiivistelmä
This thesis presents the design and development of KidApp, a web-based application aimed at encouraging primary school pupils to engage in educational and outdoor activities through task-based challenges. The application is designed to reduce screen time by motivating children to complete real-world tasks, capture evidence through photographs, and earn points and medals for their achievements.
The application supports user registration, task selection across various categories, image-based proof submissions, and a reward system to track progress. Manual testing was carried out to ensure functional accuracy and usability. The thesis also explores potential improvements, including teacher dashboards, multilingual support, and media storage optimization.
KidApp demonstrates how educational technology can promote active learning and behavior change in children. The system lays a strong foundation for future feature expansion and integration into formal educational environments.
