Tiivistelmä
Opinnäytetyön tavoitteena on selvittää, mitä esteitä Keski-pohjanmaan ammattikorkeakoulun opetushenkilöstö näkee tieto- ja viestintätekniikan opetuskäytölle. Tutkimuksen painopisteenä on verkko-opetus ja sen kiinnostavuus sekä mahdollinen koulutustarve opetushenkilöstön keskuudessa.
Viitekehysosiossa tarkastellaan ammattikorkeakoulujen omia strategioita ja niiden sisältämiä kehittämissuunnitelmia. Perehdytään myös valtakunnallisiin ammattikorkeakoulujen tutkimus- ja kehittämis- ja tietostrategioihin. Tarkastellaan myös elinikäisen oppimisen merkitystä opetustyössä ja opettajan ammatillisen kasvun mahdollisuuksia.
Case-osuudessa tutkitaan Keski-Pohjanmaan ammattikorkeakoulun opetushenkilöstön tieto- ja viestintätekniikan eri osa-alueiden opetuskäyttöä. Halutaan löytää verkkopedagogisen kehittämisen kiinnostuksen kohteet sekä koulutustarpeet siten, että opetushenkilöstö osaisi hyödyntää verkkoa opetuksessa.
Tutkimuksen pohjana oleva kysely suoritettiin erityisellä sovellusohjelmalla Internetin kautta. Tuloksista käy ilmi, että suurimpina esteinä tieto-ja viestintätekniikan laajempaan opetuskäyttöön ovat aikapula sekä teknisten tietojen ja taitojen puutteellisuus sekä osin sopivan verkko-opetusmateriaalin puuttuminen.
Parhaiten esteet voidaan voittaa järjestämällä opetushenkilöstölle koulutusta. Opettajien työaikaan on sijoitettava riittävän paljon tunteja tieto- ja viestintätekniikan taitojen kehittämiselle ja parhaiten se onnistunee, kun koulutusta järjestetään henkilön omaan yksikköön. The aim of the thesis is to identify the f actors that may constitute obstacles for the use of information and communication technologies by the academic staff at Central Ostrobothnia University of Applied Sciences. The study focuses on online education, its attractivness and the possible needs for training among the academic staff.
ln the theoretical part of the thesis the University of Applied Sciences' strategies and plans for progress as well as national strategies for research, development and knowledge are examined. Furthermore also the relevance of life long learning in teaching and the possibilities for professional growth of the academic staff is dealt with in this study.
The case study of the thesis examines the use of information and communication technology within the educational work. Another aim is also to identify those online education issues for which there is an interest to develop and the training needs and to provide ideas on how to organise education for the teaching staff.
An inquiry was carried through an online questionnaire. The results indicate that the biggest obstacles for using the information and communication technology are shortage of time, insufficient knowledge and insufficient online-education material.
The obstacles are over won most effectively by providing training for the teaching staff. lt is necessary to reserve enough resources for developing the information and communication technology skills of the teachers. This can be done most effectively by arranging the training at the units of the individual teachers.
