Opas omaohjaajuuteen lastensuojelussa työskenteleville

Abstract

Opinnäytetyön tavoitteena oli selkeyttää omaohjaajuuden käsitettä käyttäen apuna kirjallisuutta sekä lastensuojeluyksikön omaohjaajille toteutettuja teemahaastatteluja. Tarkoituksena oli luoda näiden pohjalta opas omaohjaajuudesta, joka antaa raamit työskentelylle, selkeyttää työnkuvaa ja helpottaa niin uusien ohjaajien perehdyttämistä kuin myös arjessa työskentelyä. Opas luotiin lastenkoti Veeralalle, joka toimi opinnäytetyömme toimeksiantajana.

Opinnäytetyöraportin teoriaosuus pohjautuu olemassa olevaan tietoon ja se käsittelee omaohjaajuutta lastensuojeluyksikössä sekä laadukasta ja eettistä lastensuojelutyötä. Aineistoa kerättiin myös teemahaastattelujen avulla ja niistä nousseet vastaukset analysoitiin sisällönanalyysillä. Näistä muodostui yhdessä opinnäytetyön tietoperusta, jonka avulla tuotoksena syntynyt opas luotiin.

Teemahaastattelujen johtopäätökset nostivat esille omaohjaajuuden nykytilan, sen toteutumisen haasteet sekä hyvän omaohjaajan piirteet. Olemassa oleva tieto ja teemahaastattelujen johtopäätökset muodostivat yhdessä rungon opinnäytetyön tuloksena syntyvälle oppaalle. Opas antaa käytännönläheisesti, tiivistetysti ja selkeästi raamit omaohjaajatyöskentelylle. Opasta voi käyttää tukemaan omaohjaajatyöskentelyä sekä uusien omaohjaajien perehdyttämistä.

The aim of this thesis was to clarify the concept of key worker practice by utilising existing literature and theme interviews conducted with key workers in a child welfare unit. The purpose was to create a guide on key worker practice that provides a framework for working, clarifies job responsibilities, and supports both the orientation of new workers and everyday professional practice. The guide was created for Veerala Children’s Home, which acted as the commissioning organisation for this thesis.

The theoretical framework of the thesis report is based on existing knowledge and focuses on key worker practice in a child welfare unit as well as high-quality and ethical child welfare work. Data were also collected through theme interviews, and the responses were analysed using content analysis. Together, the theoretical knowledge and the analysed interview data formed the knowledge base of the thesis, which guided the development of the final product, the guide.

The conclusions drawn from the theme interviews highlighted the current state of key worker practice, the challenges related to its implementation, and the characteristics of a good key worker. Existing knowledge and the conclusions from the theme interviews together formed the foundation for the guide produced as the outcome of this thesis. The guide provides a practical, concise, and clear framework for key worker practice. It can be used to support key worker practice and the orientation of new key workers.
