Xamk Beyond 2025: Innovation brings together the results of Xamk's education and RDI activities, offering insights, research, and practical examples that illustrate what innovation looks like in the everyday work of a university of applied sciences. Rather than presenting innovation as something distant or purely technical, the volume highlights how it develops through people working together, including students, specialists, companies, and communities, often in modest but meaningful ways.
The articles are organised into three themes: Innovation and Education, Innovation and Business, and Innovation and the Environment. They examine how education can be strengthened through engagement and collaboration, with particular attention to the experiences of international students and the development of new pedagogical approaches. The articles also explore how innovation emerges through partnerships between businesses and universities of applied sciences within shared development projects that support regional vitality and sustainable growth. The environmental contributions further show that sustainability challenges require both inventive thinking and an understanding of community needs to create novel solutions.
Throughout the volume, innovation is portrayed as a long-term, collective endeavour shaped by relationships, reflection, and a willingness to test ideas in real-world contexts. Together, the articles show how applied research and regional collaboration can build resilience and create positive change, offering practical approaches adaptable to a range of settings.
