Background: Asthma is a long-term respiratory ailment that affects millions of people throughout the world, needed to keep taking their medications to control their symptoms and stop attacks.
Objectives: The study aimed to determine the factors influencing asthma medication adherence and to examine strategies that facilitate patients in adhering to their treatment regimens.
Implementation method: A literature search and analysis of chosen trials found ways to measure adher-ence, therapies to boost compliance, and barriers to adherence.
Results: A lack of understanding about asthma and how to manage it, unfavorable attitudes from pa-tients, not enough help from healthcare professionals, and not using the inhaler correctly were all major barriers to adherence. Patient education, ongoing follow-up, digital monitoring, and collaborative deci-sion-making are some of the methods that were shown to improve adherence.
Conclusion: To enhance overall management and the quality of life for patients, it was necessary to im-plement systematic, patient-centered therapies accompanied by continuous professional support to boost adherence, reduce asthma exacerbations, and elevate management overall.
