Tiivistelmä
The objective of this thesis was to create clear and functional working instructions for production personnel and new employees, on how to perform hardness measurements with new equipment.
Hardness testing has been a key part of the quality assurance in the company for a long time. Now, as the production volume is increasing, the company has invested in new equipment to keep the quality control on a required level.
The instructions will serve as a guideline for sample preparation and measurement procedures, ensuring that the methods are consistent regardless of who performs the measurements. Since there are many personnel performing the tests, the methods should be the same, to ensure that results are reliable. The instructions can also be used when orientating new employees.
The thesis research approach is a combination of literature-review and a practice-based study. The research methods includes a theoretical review of hardness testing standards and technical sources, document analysis, and the practical development of work instructions for hardness testing process.
