Tiivistelmä
The purpose of this research was to create quality procedures for Oilon US Inc. It is a subsidiary of a Finnish company Oilon Oy, and it started operations a little over a year ago. The objective is not to implement a full quality management system, but rather create procedures that help the employees at everyday work tasks. There are yet not established procedures for work, which may cause errors in operations. The procedures that were created will be part of the subsidiary’s quality management system in the future, and supposedly also part of Oilon’s other subsidiaries as well.
The approach that was used for this study was action research, as the purpose of the process was to improve the work procedures of Oilon US Inc. This type of approach involves several different methods, and the methods used in this study were a literature review, discussions, participant observation, training sessions as well as Oilon’s official documents. The procedures were written based on the requirements of standard ISO 9001:2008 in order to make the future process of implementing a new quality management system easier. The data collection and processing were carried through at Oilon Oy in Lahti in June and August as well as in Oilon US Inc. in Thomasville in July.
The quality procedures were added to the intranet of Oilon US Inc. at the end of August along with some important links and documents related to the content.
