Tiivistelmä
Functions vital to our society and critical infrastructures — energy, water, transportation, communication, critical information infrastructure — lacks of resilience, typically losing essential functionality following adverse events. In the future, the number of climatic extremes may intensify or become more frequent, and building resilience becomes the optimal course of action for large complex systems. This multiple case study research analyses five prior research projects from critical infrastructure protection, smart cities and security fields. The target of the paper is to research how resilience management of critical systems and functions vital to society can be understood. The study indicates that situational awareness and continuous learning are prerequisites for resilience.
