This study includes 3 years worth of prehospital resuscitation outcome statistics collected in the region of the Åland islands. The study is a retrospective quantitative study. The Ut-stein template was used as a theoretical tool to evaluate the quality of the statistics. The aim of the study was to compare the three different years results with each other but also to compare the results with studies from other countries.
The three study questions were: 1. How many of the patients had ROSC (return of spon-taneus circulation) and survived primarily to the hospital and are there any differencies between the years? 2. How many of the patients survived secondarily after the cardiac arrest? 3. Are there any variation in the statistics after the introduction of first responder units and field commanders? In the study 30,2 % of the patients regained their own circu-lation and 18,9 % was alive 30 days after the cardiac arrest. A drop in survival rate was discovered between the study years with the highest survival rate 2014 and the lowest survival rate 2016. 0 % of the patients resuscitated with asystole and pulseless electrical activity were alive after 30 days. Among the patients with ventricular fibrillation and ven-tricular tachycardia the survival rate was 31,8 %. Contributing factors to survival in the study were fast CPR, fast defibrillation, the first registred rythm beeing VF or VT.
