Arvokas kuolema : Käsikirja hoitotyön ammattilaisille kotona tapahtuvan saattohoidon kehittämiseksi

Abstract

Sosiaali- ja terveysalan suuntauksena tänä päivänä on, että palveluita tarjotaan enenevissä määrin kotiin. Avopalveluiden ja kotihoidon laajentumisen ja kehittymisen myötä myös ihmisten tietous hoitopaikan valinnanvapaudesta on lisääntynyt ja yhä useammat haluavatkin tänä päivänä kuolla kotona. Kotisaattohoidon lisääntyessä hoitotyön ammattilaisten osaamisen tulee kasvaa samassa suhteessa, sillä saattohoito on sitä turvallisempaa ja laadukkaampaa, mitä enemmän heillä on tietoa ja osaamista.

Opinnäytetyön tarkoituksena oli tuottaa Telkänhoivan kotihoitoon hoitotyön ammattilaisille käsikirja kotona tapahtuvan saattohoidon laadukasta toteuttamista varten. Opinnäytetyön tavoitteena oli hoitotyön ammattilaisten osaamisen lisääminen käsikirjan myötä, ja että he voivat sen avulla kehittää kotona tapahtuvan saattohoidon laadukasta toteutumista. Laadukkaamman saattohoidon toteutuksen myötä mahdollistetaan arvokas, inhimillinen ja tasa-arvoinen elämän loppuvaihe ja kuolema kaikille saattohoitopotilaille.

Opinnäytetyö toteutettiin kehittämistyönä yhteistyössä Telkänhoivan kotihoidon kanssa. Opinnäytetyön tuotoksena oli saattohoidon käsikirja, joka tehtiin toimeksiantajan tarpeiden ja toiveiden pohjalta näyttöön perustuvaa saattohoidon lähdemateriaalia käyttäen.

Saadun palautteen perusteella käsikirja on onnistunut kokonaisuus, joka on helposti sovellettavissa käytännön hoitotyöhön. Käsikirja on hyödyllinen osa saattohoidon kehittämistä ja toteuttamista Telkänhoivan kotihoidossa.

The current trend in social and health care is to offer services increasingly at the patients' home. Along with the increase and improvements of home care, people's awareness of the freedom to choose their care facility has also increased, and more and more people want to die at home. As home-based terminal care increases, the knowledge of the nursing professionals has to increase respectively because the more they have knowledge and skills, the safer terminal care is and the better its quality.

The purpose of the thesis was to provide the nursing professionals of the Telkänhoiva Home Care with a manual for improving the quality of terminal care taking place at home. The aim of the thesis was to increase the skills of nursing professionals with the manual and to help them to improve home-based terminal care. High quality terminal care can ensure a dignified, humane and equal final stage of life and death for all terminal care patients.

This development work was carried out in co-operation with the Telkänhoiva Home Care. The outcome of the thesis was a manual for terminal care based on the needs and hopes of the assignor. The manual was compiled by using evidence-based reference material.

Based on the feedback, the manual can successfully be adapted to the practice of nursing. The manual is a beneficial part of the development and implementation of terminal care in the Telkänhoiva Home Care.
