Työntekijöiden kokemuksia vauvaryhmästä Tuomarilan perhetukikeskuksessa

Abstract

Opinnäytetyö kuvaa Tuomarilan perhetukikeskuksen neljän työntekijän kokemuksia vauvaryhmätoiminnasta lapsen hyvinvoinnin edistäjänä sekä työskentelymuotona perhekuntoutuksessa. Tavoitteena oli selvittää työntekijöiden kokemuksia siitä, miten he kokevat vauvaryhmätoiminnan edistävän lasten hyvinvointia perheessä, miten ryhmä tukee perhekuntoutusprosessia kokonaisuudessa, miten ryhmästä saatua tietoa hyödynnetään perhekuntoutuksessa, ja miten ryhmää tulisi kehittää edelleen.

Opinnäytetyö on kvalitatiivinen ja tutkimusaineisto kerättiin työntekijöiden yksilöhaastatteluina. Haastattelut olivat tyypiltään puolistrukturoituja teemahaastatteluita ja aineiston analyysimenetelmänä käytettiin aineistolähtöistä sisällönanalyysiä.

Tuomarilan perhetukikeskuksen vauvaryhmä rakentuu neljän teoreettisen viitekehyksen pohjalle. Näitä ovat kiintymyssuhde, mentalisaatio ja systeemisen sekä sosiaalisen oppimisen teoriat. Tulokset osoittavat, että vauvaryhmällä on mahdollista tukea sekä vahvistaa vauvan ja vanhempien vuorovaikutusta ja vanhempien mentalisaatiokykyä. Vauvaryhmä mahdollistaa positiivisia vaikutuksia koko perhesysteemissä lisäämällä vanhempien voimavaroja, kykyä toimia vanhempina ja vahvistamalla vanhempien omaa pystyvyyden tunnettaan. Ryhmän koettiin tukevan vauvaperheiden perhekuntoutusprosessia ja kuntoutusjakson tavoitteita.

Haasteeksi koettiin tiedon siirtyminen eri työryhmiin, joka on keskeistä tiedon hyödyntämisessä optimaalisesti asiakkaan eduksi. Sisäisen viestinnän tehostamiseen ja yhtenäisistä toimintatavoista sopimiseen tulisi jatkossa kiinnittää huomiota ryhmän suunnittelussa. Ryhmädynamiikan ja toiminnan suunnittelun näkökulmasta tulisi pohtia mahdollisuutta suljettuun ryhmään ja asiakasperheiden tuomista esimerkiksi Tuomarilan perhetukikeskuksen toisesta toimipisteestä, Kiintotähdestä. Myös kolmannen ryhmänohjaajan käytön mahdollisuutta tulisi jatkossa pohtia. Vauvaryhmään osallistuvien vanhempien kokemusten kartoittaminen tukisi ryhmän mahdollisia jatkokehitystoimenpiteitä, työmenetelmän dialogisuutta ja lähentäisi asiakkaita ja työntekijöitä.

Opinnäytetyön tutkimusaineisto perustuu neljän työntekijän kokemuksiin vauvaryhmässä työskentelyyn ja on siten sen verran suppea, ettei tulosten perusteella voi tehdä tarkkoja johtopäätöksiä. Tuomarilan perhetukikeskuksen vauvaryhmä koetaan tärkeänä ja tehokkaana työmenetelmänä perhekuntoutuksessa, joka myös toteutetaan suunnitelmallisesti ja laadukkaasti.

The thesis describes the experiences of four employees in Tuomarila Family Support Center of baby group activities in order to promote a child's well-being and to be used as a working method in family rehabilitation. The purpose was to find out the employees’ experiences of how they feel the baby group activity promotes the well-being of the children in the family, how the group supports the family rehabilitation process in general, how the information gathered from the group is utilized in family rehabilitation, and how the group should be further developed.

The thesis is qualitative and the research material was collected through employee interviews. The interviews were semi-structured theme interviews, and inductive content analysis was used as analysis method.

Tuomarila Family Support Center's baby group is based on four theoretical starting points. These include theories of attachment, mentalization, social learning and systems theory. The findings show that the baby group is able to support and strengthen the interaction between the baby and the parents and the mentalization of the parents. The baby group facilitates positive effects throughout the family system by increasing parents’ resources, parenting skills, and reinforcing the parents' feeling of being able to act. The baby group was experienced to support the family rehabilitation process and the goals of the rehabilitation period for families with babies.

The challenge in a baby group is how the information is transferred to different teams, which is central in utilizing the information optimally for the benefit of the client. In order to improve the efficiency of internal communication and to agree on common practices, attention should be paid to the planning of the group.

From the point of view of group dynamics and planning of activities, consideration should be given to the possibility of a closed group and for example to include client families from Kiintotähti, which is a part of Tuomarila Family Support Center. The possibility of using a third group leader should also be considered in the future. Exploring the parents’ experiences in the baby group would support the group's potential further development measures, the dialogue and the interaction between clients and employees.

The data of this thesis is based on the experiences of four employees which makes it quite narrow therefore no precise conclusions can be drawn from the findings. Tuomarila Family Support Center’s baby group is seen as an important and efficient working method in family rehabilitation and it is also carried out with high quality.
