Tiivistelmä
Road transportation had been changing the whole time and recent changes were not excep-tions. Appearance of autonomous driving technologies had questioned need for human labour in the sphere of transportation.
The chosen objective was to find out the direction of development in road transportation, peoples’ opinion on the subject of autonomous vehicles and autonomous traffic.
Due to large amount of data a systematic literature review was chosen as a research meth-od. It allowed to gather information from different sources and compare it to give a better, more complete analysis. Understanding peoples’ opinion required a quantitative research, as statistical data was a more important than personal opinions. A questionnaire helped to get 476 answers from north-west part of Russia.
The data gathered from reviewing literature, articles, news and a questionnaire described possible outcomes of the development in road transportation. The sample of respondents was not large enough to clearly make a forecast on the speed and direction of autonomous technologies development.
Overall, based on the review data, automotive industry had to improve self-driven vehicles’ safety issues, besides other problems, meaning that development of fully autonomous vehi-cles required significant amount of work to be done, thus postponed the possible labour issue by an undefined time.
