Tiivistelmä
This project-based thesis is about the planning processes of organizing art exhibition event for commissioner Kyläravintola Terho. The opening of art exhibition was held 8th of June 2018 by tourism student, specialized in event management. The need for the event came from event organizers own initiative. Goal for the art exhibition event was to promote com-missioner Kyläravintola Terhos premises as a display venue for future purposes. Also, to bring out amateur artists Jussi Lipasti and Camilla Zapata Lagos work out to the public.
The opening of the art exhibition was an evening event; the exhibition continuing for two weeks for the public. Program for the occasion was a waiter providing best possible service with hors d’oeuvre for the guests, coffee provided by Kyläravintola Terhos own roastery and a band performing to finish up the event.
The art exhibition event was successful and managed to reach the needed goals. The pro-gram for the evening was well planned and executed, which can be seen from the positive feedback the event collected. Everything that was planned, went seemingly together, and the outcome of the event filled the expectations of the commissioner. The art exhibition itself issues the problem of human perception and how we fail to see the bigger picture.
For anyone to organize a similar type of event, marketing and advertising aspect needs to be taken more into consideration. I did not emphasize on that aspect at all during the plan-ning process, besides creating a Facebook-event on Kyläravintola Terhos account.
