Abstract
The aim of this study was to find out what experiences African immigrants have with health care systems in various host countries in which they immigrated to.
The study was conducted using a literature review. All the relevant information for the literature review was collected form data bases such as CINAHL, NCPBI, google scholar and EbscoHost. Predefined keywords scientific empirical studies, published from 2008 to date in English were used. Following exclusion, the final analysis and synthesis included ten articles.
The results gained from the research showed that African immigrant experiences with the health care systems in various host countries were categorized in four themes: assump-tions about African immigrants and healthcare services; experiences of African immi-grants with individual members of health care; experiences of African immigrants with health care teams; and experiences of African immigrants with political environment. However, it appears that negative experiences were mostly experienced by undocu-mented African immigrants.
