Tiivistelmä
The first purpose of this Bachelor’s thesis was to gather the theoretical background of design guidelines from National Annexes to EN 1993 of ten European countries, to provide information for software FrameCalc development.
The second purpose was to use the software developed by SSAB, to compare the designs and weights of a tubular truss based on National Annexes of the European countries. The truss was optimized by weight. Truss topology, profile and material selection, connection failures and the total weight of the frame were dissected and compared.
In conclusion, the software succeeded only in seven out of ten trusses design. It has failed to generate structures for Poland, Latvia and Lithuania. From the optimization reports it is clear to see that nationally determined parameters influence drastically the final design of the structure in the same exact environmental location.
