Tiivistelmä
Tässä raportissa kuvaan moniammatillista yhteistyötä Ukipolis Oy:n Asukasluotsaus-hankkeessa sekä työskentelyn aikana yhteisöllisesti toteutettua Room 4 -tilataideteosta. Työskentelin hankkeessa taiteilija-kehittäjänä ja projektipäällikön työparina huhti-heinäkuussa 2018. Toteutin hankkeessa soveltavan taiteen YAMK-opinnäytetyöni toiminnallisen osan.
The practical part of this thesis is based upon my experience in the Ukipolis Inc. Residence Guidance Project (Asukasluotsaus). The aim of the project is to ease the workforce recruitment process for companies, and support newcomers to the region of Southwest Finland. The content for this study is a compilation of information that I have gathered during the spring and summer of 2018 while working alongside the project manager as an artistic-developer.
This thesis underlines the multidisciplinary co-operations within the project, specifically the work revolving around a unique community art installation called Room 4. The focus will be on the Room 4-installation as a creator and distributor of knowledge. The aim is to answer such questions as: What and how did the Room 4-installation produce and share knowledge? How did the installation support the objectives of the Residence Guidance Project?
The work is based on a case study, which includes methods from both artistic and operative research. By examining the Room 4-installation this way, it could be argued that its value as a producer and distributor of information and knowledge was based on art's ability to approach the varying themes of the Residence Guidance Project from multiple angles and through employing different methods.
A vital part of the Room 4-installation and its creation was the idea of multidimensional interactivity. Based on that, this thesis will also reflect on ethics related to working in the arts. This reflection arguably reveals that community artists working in multidisciplinary projects can contribute to the ethical evaluation of producing and distributing information.
The aim of this thesis is to increase awareness on how unique arts and talented artists can contribute and develop the distribution of knowledge in multidisciplinary projects. This work does not place emphasis on the function of arts as a tool, but merely highlights the catalytic ability of the arts in creating and distributing knowledge and information through various methods.
