Tiivistelmä
Tämän opinnäytetyön tarkoituksena oli selvittää Satakunnan ammattikorkeakoulun (SAMK) hoitotyön opiskelijoiden kokemuksia Lapset puheeksi -menetelmäkoulutuksesta. Tavoitteena oli tuottaa tietoa, jota voidaan hyödyntää koulutuksen kehittämiseksi. Tutkimusaineistona käytettiin opiskelijoiden palautteita (n=91) koulutuksesta vuodelta 2017. Aineistolähtöistä sisällönanalyysiä käyttäen selvitettiin opiskelijoiden kokemuksia Lapset puheeksi -menetelmästä, -koulutuksesta, sen harjoituksista ja omasta oppimisestaan. Lisäksi selvitettiin opiskelijoiden kehittämisehdotuksia koulutukselle.
Terveyden ja hyvinvoinnin laitoksella kehitetty ja nykyisin Suomen mielenterveysseuran hallinnoima ja jatkokehittämä Lapset puheeksi- menetelmä ja -toimintarakenne on yleistymässä Suomessa. Lapset puheeksi -työn tarkoituksena on tukea lapsen suotuisaa kehitystä, ennaltaehkäistä ongelmia ja kantaa lasta silloin, kun joissain kehitysympäristöissä on ongelmia. Lisäksi tavoitteena on vanhemmuuden tukeminen.
The purpose of this thesis was to describe student nurses’ experiences of the “Let’s Talk About Children” -method education in Satakunta University of Applied Sciences (SAMK). Aim was to produce information that can be used in developing the education. Material used in this thesis was student feedback of the education (n=91) from 2017. Content analysis was made to investigate students experiences of the “Let’s Talk About Children”- method and education, its practices and their own learning as well as their ideas of developing the education.
The “Let’s talk about children”-model, which is developed by The National Institute for Health and Welfare and later managed and improved by The Finnish Association for Mental Health, is becoming popular in Finland. The purpose of the “Let’s talk about children”-model is to encourage positive child development, prevent problems and support children when they have problems in some of their environments. The lowthreshold method contains two parts; “Let’s Talk About Children” -discussion and if needed the “The Effective Family Network Meeting”.
Nurse students think that the “Let’s Talk About Children” -method education is important part of their education. Exercises, where the students had a chance to learn the method in practice improved students learning and confidence in using the method. Some of the students were concerned about the suitability of the method for nurses. Students would improve the education by adding more learning in practice and study groups.
Based on this thesis it would be useful to realise a project where students would get to practice the method in collaboration with real working life. On the other hand, it would be interesting for nurse students to offer “Let’s Talk About Children” -conversations for the students of Satakunta applied sciences. This would make the learning situations more real and promote the wellbeing of the kids of students with families.
Orderers feedback of this thesis was positive. It was noticed that the thesis respond-ed to the needs of the orderer. It was also recognised that the results are relevant to SAMK as well as other “Let’s talk about children” -educators in Finnish universities of applied sciences.
