Muodoltaan kyseessä on soveltava tutkimustyö, jossa eri tutkimusmenetelmin kerättyä tietoa on sovellettu uuden tiedon saavuttamiseksi. Työn toteutuksessa käytettiin useita eri ohjelmia yhdessä Esrin ArcGIS Online -reittioptimointiohjelmiston kanssa tulosten saavuttamiseksi. Työssä käytiin läpi kaikki työn alkaessa olemassa olevat reitit, tarkistettiin niiden oikeellisuus, ja luotiin niiden pohjalta ehdotuksia työn antajalle eri reittivaihtoehdoista. Laskelmissa on otettu huomioon lähtöajat, asiakkaiden luona vietettävä aika, reittien pituus ja niiden ajamiseen kuluva aika, työntekijöiden työajat, sekä kuljetettavan tavaran määrä. Työn lopputuloksissa käytiin läpi kerätyn tiedon pohjalta saavutetut reittiehdotukset ja niiden mukanaan tuomat hyödyt. Reittien hinnat on laskettu käyttämällä yhteyshenkilöltä saatuja keskimääräisiä kulutietoja. The purpose of this thesis was to review Pirjon Pakari Ylivieska Oy’s, also known as Pohjanmaan Leipomo, route plan with the intent of developing and expanding it. When the work was started the owner of the Pirjon Pakari bakery chain, Hannu Malmivaara, had just bought the bankruptcy estate of Pohjanmaan Leipomo Oy and continued its operations partly based on the original route plans of the company.
The thesis is an applied research where information gathered via various research methods has been applied to produce new information. The thesis was executed using various programs in tandem with Esri’s ArcGIS Online route optimization program in order to achieve desired results. In the thesis all the routes that existed at the beginning were reviewed, their correctness was checked and different suggestions for possible routes were given to the employer based on them. Departure times, time spent with customers, route length and the time it took to drive them, drivers’ working hours as well as the quantity of goods to be transported were considered with the calculations. Route plans created through gathered information and the benefits of them were presented in the results. Route costs were calculated using the average costs given by the contact person.
