Tiivistelmä
The purpose of this Bachelor’s thesis was to analyse and compare
geological conditions and consequent approaches to the zero cycle works
in two areas: Tampere and Saint Petersburg, and two particular
construction sites in these cities.
Saint Petersburg is famous for its weak soils, whereas the bedrock in
Tampere is close to the surface. To understand why geology of both areas
varies that much, geological conditions have been observed through the
historical development of the Baltic Sea.
The information for the analysis of in-situ works was provided by the
companies performing piling on both construction sites.
The results of the thesis show differences in the approaches to the
construction in general and pile works in particular.
