Tiivistelmä
Tämä opinnäytetyö on luonteeltaan tutkimuksellinen. Aiheena on SPR:n ystävätoiminnan vaikutukset ikääntyneiden yksinäisyyteen Porissa. Aihe valittiin, koska aihe on ajankohtainen nyky-yhteiskunnassamme. Yksinäisyys on lisääntynyt iäkkäiden keskuudessa.
Opinnäytetyössä oli tarkoituksena selvittää SPR:n ystävätoiminnan vaikuttavuutta ikääntyneiden asiakkaiden yksinäisyyteen, ja tavoitteena oli tuottaa haastatteluiden kautta tietoa ikääntyneiden näkökulmasta ystävätoiminnan vaikuttavuudesta, sekä sen vaikutuksesta heidän yksinäisyyteensä. Tämä tutkimuksellinen opinnäytetyö oli luonteeltaan laadullinen. Tiedonhaku toteutettiin teemahaastattelumenetelmällä haastattelemalla ikääntyneitä yli 65-vuotiaita ystävätoiminnan asiakkaita. Haastattelut äänitettiin. Tiedonantajia oli yhteensä 5 ikääntynyttä. Yhdeksi haasteeksi prosessissa koettiin vapaaehtoisten osallistujien saaminen tutkimukseen.
Tulosten mukaan neljä viidestä kokivat, etteivät ole yksinäisiä. Yksi haastateltava kertoi tuntevansa yksinäisyyttä. Tästä tehtiin johtopäätös, että ikääntyneiden oli vaikea puhua yksinäisyydestä, tai se koettiin araksi aiheeksi. Myös haastattelutilanteissa havaittiin monen kohdalla vaikeutta puhua yksinäisyydestä omalla kohdallaan. Tulosten mukaan ikääntyneiden ystävätoiminnasta saadut hyödyt olivat aktiivisuuden lisääntyminen, ja sen ylläpito liikunnan avulla, ystävän seurasta saatu piristys heidän elämäänsä, ja ystävän tarjoama apu arjen asioissa. Yksi viidestä, sanoi yksinäisyyden tunteensa lieventyneen ystävätoiminnasta saadun seuran myötä. Hän kertoi kuitenkin edelleen ajoittain tuntevansa yksinäisyyttä. This thesis is investigational by nature. The subject is the effects of the SPR's voluntary friend visitor service on the loneliness of the elderly in Pori. The subject was chosen because it is topical in our modern society. Loneliness has increased among the elderly.
The purpose of the thesis was to investigate the effectiveness of the SPR's voluntary friend visitor service on the loneliness of the elderly customers, and the aim was to produce information by interviewing the elderly from their aspect of the effectiveness of voluntary friend visitor service and its effects on their loneliness. This investigational thesis was qualitative by nature. The information retrieval was carried out by a thematic interview method by interviewing the elderly customers of the voluntary friend visitor service, over the age of 65. The interviews were recorded. There were 5 elderly informants. One challenge in the process was to get volunteer participants to research.
According to the results, four out of five didn’t felt loneliness. One interviewee said he felt loneliness. This led to the conclusion that it was difficult for the elderly to talk about the loneliness and it was perceived as a delicate subject. In many interview situations there was also observed difficult to talk about the loneliness on their own. According to the results the benefits elderly received from the voluntary friend visitor service was increased activity and its maintenance by means of exercise, the cheery effect on their lives from a company of the friend and the assistance of the friend with everyday matters. One out of five felt that the feeling of the loneliness has been mitigated with the company she received from the voluntary friend visitor service. However, she told that still occasionally she feels loneliness.
