With the expanding urbanization, more municipal wastewater is produced by citizens, which requires more efficient wastewater treatment to meet the demand of stringent legislation.
This thesis aimed to enhance the functions of coagulation and flocculation in the wastewater treat-ment process, which can lead to the optimal dosing of chemical reagent and the lower chemical resid-ual in the post-treated wastewater. The project was approached by reviewing relevant literature and conducting experiments. The literature showed the current approach of the coagulation and floccula-tion in the wastewater treatment as well as their functional principles. In the experiment part, the pa-rameters of turbidity and the residual of the chemical reagent were measured. During the procedures, Jar Test was implemented, and the optimal dose of the coagulant and the best operational pH were determined. Other factors such as the mixing intensity, mixing time were discussed in this thesis.
