Tiivistelmä
Suomalaisnuorten tupakointi on vähentynyt 2000-luvulla.
-nuorten terveyden edistämisen toimintamallin keinoin voidaan tukea nuoria nikotiinittomuuteen. Malli on suunniteltu toteutettavaksi ammattioppilaitoksissa, jolloin nuorille tärkeä matalan kynnyksen sekä vertaisryhmän näkökulma toteutuu. Malli on muunneltavissa myös muihin nuorten suosimiin ympäristöihin, esimerkiksi nuorisotyössä toteutettavaksi. The amount of Finnish youth who smoke has decreased during the 21st century. Ways and values that are good for ones health are appreciated, but among people who study in vocational schools smoking is still popular. According to studies also the popularity of other nicotine products such as snus and electronic cigarettes have gained popularity amongst young people. These products are often also used in tandem. Using interventions in the right content and right place, close to youth, there is a possibility of making a change in the usage of nicotine products amongst the Finnish youth.
The development project was part of the Southwestern Finland Cancer Society’s NIKO-project, that aims to develop ways to prevent cancer and new modes of operating The objective of the development project was to advance the health and up keeping of the well being of young people (12 to 20 years of age) as well as reducing their use of nicotine products. One of the objectives was also to educate young people on nicotine products and their effects, while also collecting information about the youth's thoughts on nicotine products.
The mode of operation for promoting health was produced in a systematic literature review by taking advantage of information that has been brought to light by youth workshop's and a team of specialist's results. In the development project the key was to involve youth as the producers of information and material. The operating environment for the project was the Southwestern Finland Cancer Society’s and Turku's vocational institute.
The results of the development project, the campaign Your choise! - operation models for young health promoting to a nicotine free life by the mode of operations for promoting health. The model was planned to be implemented in vocational schools, so that the view of a low threshold and peer group that is important to youths is realized. The model is modifiable also to other environments that youth favor, such as youth work.
