jaksosta. Malliopintojaksoa voidaan jatkossa hyödyntää vastaavanlaisissa opinnoissa, jotka toteutetaan kokemusasiantuntijan toimesta.
Tulosten perusteella sairaanhoitajaopiskelijoiden asenteisiin voidaan vaikuttaa kokemusasiantuntijan antamalla opetuksella. Kokemusasiantuntijoiden antama opetus lisäsi opiskelijoiden tietoja ja taitoja mielenterveystyöstä. Opetus muokkasi sairaanhoitajaopiskelijoiden mielikuvia ja käsityksiä mielenterveyspotilaista positiivisemmaksi.
The aim of this research-oriented development project was to study the impact of Expert by Experience led teaching on the attitudes of nursing students after the mental health education module at Turku University of Applied Sciences. Data were collected through a focus group interview with ten nursing students and analyzed using content analysis. The development project is a part of the international Co-produced Mental Health Nursing Education project, referred herein as the Commune project.
The purpose of the development project was to produce Finnish research-based information about the mental health education module developed and implemented collaboratively by teachers and Experts by Experience and about its effects on the opinions and attitudes of nursing students. The information is shared internationally through the Commune project.
The development project resulted in a model for a mental health education module based on the findings of this study and the feedback given by students on the education module. The model can be used in similar Expert by Experience led teaching contexts.
The findings suggest that the attitudes of nursing students can be changed through Expert by Experience led teaching. It increased their knowledge and skills in mental health and positively shaped their views and ideas about people with mental disorders.
Previous studies support the role of Experts by Experience in nursing education. It is justified to involve them in teaching in order to change attitudes and share information.
