This diary-model thesis discusses and deals with author’s experience and professional growth working as a Public Relations Coordinator at INTERNeX International Exchange.
The thesis starts with an introduction. The company, author’s work tasks, needed skills and work environments are described. The author has just begun working at the company’s head office which is located in Vancouver, Canada. Tasks vary from organizing events from scratch to managing company’s social media channels.
After the introduction follows a 10-week-long diary part which took place from 11.03.2019 to 17.05.2019. The diary consists of notes from each day where the author describes the work day and possible problems that were faced. In the end of each week a deeper analysis is written to discuss the previous week and its challenges. With the help of professional literature related to the handled topics author analyses what models and theories have been used and what should be used in the future.
As a result of the thesis a Discussions and Conclusions- part is written which is the final part of the thesis. In this part the learning points and challenges from the weekly analyses of the work are described. During this process the author started to realize the importance of the public and how to use the information gotten from the customers beneficially. The author also found tools which helped surviving in the fast-paced work environment.
One challenge was the continuous self-reflection throughout writing the daily reports and weekly analyses. The author succeeded in developing her analyzing skills as the paper progressed. This paper helped the author to recognize what kind of work would be suitable for her in the future and what skills improved or need to be improved.
