Viime vuosina perhevalmennukseen osallistuminen on heikentynyt.
Tulokset mukailivat aikaisempien tutkimusten tuloksia. Jatkossa tulee keskittyä perhevalmennuksen palvelumuotoiluprosessin seuraaviin vaiheisiin ja esimerkiksi asiakasraadin avulla arvioida synnytyksen jälkeisten valmennusryhmien tai uudelleensynnyttäjille suunnattujen valmennusryhmien tarpeellisuutta. FAMILY TRAINING FOR PREPARING INTO THE PARENTHOOD

Central-Satakunta Health Care Municipality
In Finland, family training is part of the maternity clinic services and it is offered mainly to all families that are having a baby for the first time. In recent years, the participation to these family trainings have been decreasing. It is obvious, that the content and approach to these family trainings needs to be developed. The aim of this thesis is to clarify what issues the new families wish most about these family trainings. Also, how available these services are experienced to be, and how important the possibility to have the training in digital for-mat is seen. Objective was to develop the family training to suite more into the needs of the customers with the help of service formatting.
The developing method was service formatting and constructive approach used was the quantitative Survey-study. The data was collected by questionnaire. The service formatting research phase was processed during the study in order to form customer understanding. The questionnaire was addressed to the families that will a baby for the first time in the fall 2019. Altogether 24 future parents answered to this questionnaire, 19 of them were female and 5 of them men. The target group was families that were already customers with three different maternity clinics, the women that were either pregnant or those, who have had their first baby less than 6 months in time. Participants were chosen during their routine ma-ternity clinic visits. Two alternative choices how to answer was given, either traditionally in paper format or via electronic questionnaire.
Participants were mainly at the age of 20-30 years old and most of them born baby or the baby they have already given birth to, would be their first one. The half of the respondents mentioned that they had participated to family training or they intended to participate to the family training that was organised by the maternity clinic. The most important information sources concerning the time of pregnancy to them were either the internet, maternity clinic or friends who already had babies. Regarding the content of the family training programme, most of all the issues concerning the childbirth, taking care of the baby, nursing and parenthood itself were desired to be included in the trainings. These issues were also want-ed to be approached from very practical and concrete point of view. Respondents stated that the trainers should be very dwelled to the topic, they should have the most recent infor-mation and based on the newest researches available, and most of all they should be enthu-siastic about their work. Continuity was important too, the participants wished that the family training group would continue as parental group after the childbirth. Specific father groups were not seen as important. Not any significantly new issues that needs developing were discovered from this survey, the results followed previous studies’ outcomes. In the future studies, the next phases of service formatting could be focused into. For example, evaluating through customer panel survey the need for the training groups concerning the time after the childbirth or training groups that are addressed to families that are having their second or third baby.
