Tiivistelmä
The aim of the Bachelor’s thesis was to present improvement ideas to complete the collect-ing process at Ojala Group Oyj a company based in Sievi, in a more efficient way. The goal was to make the challenges faced in the warehouse more visible. Also, the basis for the lay-out of the warehouse was to be determined. Ojala Group operates in the field of thin-layer mechanics. The idea for the thesis came from the assigning company while the author of the thesis was working there.
The research data was collected using a quantitative survey. An online survey to specific people working in the warehouse buildings that were chosen by the assignor. The aim of the survey was to determine the main problems the collecting process and warehousing materi-als. Fifteen people answered to the survey and thus the response percentage was 83,3. A current-state analysis was done for the collecting process. The aim was to solve the prob-lems that could be identified in this analysis. The description of the current collecting process is based on the author’s own experience of working in the warehouse in question.
Based on the data from the survey it could be determined that more storage space is need-ed. The tools currently used are not practical enough. The products should be placed in the shelves in a different manner. The products should be manufactured and placed in the ware-house according to demand. This could be achieved using an ABC analysis that provides data on the most demanded products and the storage space needed for them. This way the ware-house operations could be more efficient. As a follow-up from the thesis, it is suggested that a similar survey and analysis is performed for the other warehouses owned by the assignor.
Jatkotutkimusehdotuksena vastaavanlai-nen työ voitaisiin toteuttaa muissakin yrityksen halleissa.
