Tiivistelmä
Internetin käyttäjämäärä sekä Internetiin liitettävien laitteiden määrä on ollut viime vuosina suuressa nousussa. Ei ole siis ihme, että myös kyberrikollisuuden määrä on nousussa. Tämän takia olisi erittäin hyvä, että Internetin uudet sekä kokeneemmat käyttäjät tutustuisivat mahdollisimman hyvin omaan tietoturvaansa sekä osaisivat toimia mahdollisimman turvallisesti tietoturvansa kannalta.
Tutkimuksen tavoitteena oli selvittää mitkä ovat suurimmat haasteet ja uhat internetin peruskäyttäjän tietoturvalle, miten uhat toimivat, miten välttää niitä sekä miten niiltä voi suojautua. Tavoitteena oli myös luoda tietoturvaopas, jonka avulla pystyy toimimaan turvallisemmin netissä.
Opinnäytetyö tehtiin käyttäen konstruktiivisia tutkimusmenetelmiä. Lähteinä toimi muun muassa useat eri artikkelit ja tutkimukset, joita vertailtiin tiedon oikeuden varmentamiseksi. Työssä onnistuttiin tunnistamaan tietoturvan haasteita, sekä suurimpia uhkia Internetin peruskäyttäjille. Löydetyt suojautumiskeinot valittiin niiden tehokkuuden ja ymmärrettävyyden mukaan, minkä jälkeen löydettyjen tietojen perusteella luotiin tietoturvaopas.
Tietoturvaopas auttaa havaitsemaan mahdolliset huijausyritykset sekä muut vaaratilanteet, kuin myös ymmärtämään salasanojen vahvuuksien ja ohjelmistopäivitysten tärkeyden. Opas tehtiin mahdollisimman helppolukuiseksi ja helposti ymmärrettäväksi, jotta jopa aiheesta tietämättömät pystyvät käyttämään opasta hyväkseen. The number of Internet users and the number of devices connected to the Internet have been increasing greatly in the recent years. Therefore, it is not surprising that cybercrime is on the rise as well. For this reason, it would be beneficial if the new and even the more experienced users of the Internet would become as familiar as they can with their personal information security, and to be able to act as securely as they can.
The aim of the study was to find out what the greatest information security challenges and threats to a regular Internet user are, how the threats work, how to avoid them, and how to protect against them. The aim was to also create an information security guide, which would enable the reader to act more securely while on the Internet.
The thesis was carried out using constructive research methods. The sources included several articles and studies that were compared to verify the validity of the information. The challenges and some of the major threats to the information security of a regular Internet user were able to be identified. The means of protection found were selected according to their effectiveness and comprehensibility, after which an information security guide was created based on the found information.
The information security guide will help the reader to detect possible scams and other threats, as well as to understand the importance of password strengths and software updates. The guide was designed to be as easy to read and as easy to understand as possible, so that even those who do not know the subject can benefit from the guide.
