We are in the situation where our planet´s carrying capacity threatens to end. We must reduce use of our virgin materials. Pilot service prior to my thesis addressed this problem. The target of project was to find a solution to sharing of resources. The purpose of this thesis was to illustrate company’s business model from circular economy. From service was created a service blueprint and two customer journeys. Qualitative research describes customers and employees’ functions in the service and backgrounds factors. In this thesis responsibility was strongly linked to the circular economy.
Theoretical framework of the study consisted of circular economy and service design. The framework was used to formulate questions for key service personnel in theme interviews. Based on the results of the interviews and theoretical framework, brainstorming sessions for customers and employees were designed. Focused interviews and brainstorming were also supported by service pilot introductions and customer feedback.
Based on the research results, a service blueprint with development ideas and two separate service paths were developed for the customers. Results from customers perspective were very comprehensive with 83% turnout but only unreliable guesses could be generated from employee responses with participation rate of 5%.
The research showed customers´ interest in the circular economy and the service in question. It could be verified that service design methods can improve the service process of a service and find ways to make the service a circular economy.
