Tillgänglighet på internet : En studie om webbdesign och internethjälpmedel för blinda

Abstract

Detta examensarbete behandlar webbdesign för blinda ur webbprogrammerarens perspektiv. Eftersom studiens tyngdpunkt ligger på blinda användare berörs varken lindrigt synskadade eller personer med andra funktionshinder specifikt. I examensarbetet framgår även vilka internethjälpmedel det idag finns på marknaden samt i en teknisk analys redogörs hur dessa fungerar och vilka möjligheter och begränsningar hjälpmedlen ger användaren. Utifrån WAI:s riktlinjer för tillgängligt webbinnehåll ges konkreta tips på vad en webbprogrammerare bör beakta och hur denna undviker de största problemen för blinda internetanvändare. Tillgängligheten kan testas antingen genom en manuell jämförelse mot WAI:s riktlinjer, med automatiska testverktyg eller av användare med hjälpmedel. Genom att belysa den situation blinda befinner sig i, strävar jag i studien efter att öka förståelsen för varför det är viktigt att göra webbplatser tillgängliga.

This thesis deals with web design for the blind from the perspective of a web designer. Since the study focuses on blind users, are neither mildly visually impaired or people with other disabilities dealt with. The thesis also processes the accessibility tools, which currently are available on the market and in a technical analysis describe the function of the accessibility tools and what possibilities and limitations these tools provide the user. Based on the Web Content Accessibility Guidlines by WAI, practical tips are given on what a web designer should consider and how to avoid the main problems for blind inter-net users. Availability can be tested either by manual comparison against the WAI guidelines, with automatic testing tools or by users with accessibility tools. By illuminating the situation of blind people, I in this study aim to increase the understanding of why it is im-portant to make websites accessible.
