The objective of this thesis is to discuss situational leadership model as an approach to leading followers, as well as help the student to understand ways to implement different leadership styles in practice. The theoretical framework focuses on explaining situational leadership model and the different leadership styles there is as well as matching the styles to correct development level of followers. A survey was conducted using questionnaires that were given physically to MFA students to see their abilities when it came to leadership. The questionnaire consisted of 12 questions 8 of which were case studies, out of 50 possible participants the response was 88 %.
The analysis concluded that, the more the students got exposed to leadership background the more they were able to switch between the different leadership styles with the 3rd years matching situations presented in the questionnaire better than the 1st and 2nd years students but the students had no knowledge of what situational leadership model was. The thesis will contribute towards knowledge of the situational leadership model as well as a discussion for further research by other students.
