Kaikki keinot sallittuja kun innostetaan lukemaan : kyselytutkimus 5-luokkalaisille kirjavinkkauksesta

Abstract

Opinnäytetyössä tehdään selkoa lukemisen merkityksestä yksilölle ja lukemisen tavoista ennen ja nykyään. Lisäksi työssä kerrotaan miksi lukeminen ei mahdollisesti nykyään enää kiinnosta lapsia ja nuoria ja pohditaan sitä, onko internet ja kehittyvä teknologia uhka lukemisharrastuksen jatkumiselle.

Opinnäytetyössä kerrotaan mitä on kirjavinkkaus, kuka voi tehdä sitä ja miten sitä voi tehdä. Tämän lisäksi pohditaan muita keinoja vinkata kirjoja ja innostaa lukemaan. Tutkimuksessa kerrotaan myös kirjastojen ja koulujen yhteistyön merkityksestä lasten ja nuorten lukemishar-rastuksen ylläpitäjänä ja kerrotaan lyhyesti Turun pääkirjastolla tehtävästä kirjavinkkauksesta.

Opinnäytetyö toteutettiin pääosin teoreettisena tutkimuksena, jonka toteutustapa oli kysely. Opinnäytetyön tarkoitus on ymmärtää kyselyn tulokset. Kyselytutkimuksen tulokset eivät kuitenkaan ole yleistettävissä. Kyselytutkimus toteutettiin Turun pääkirjastolla järjestetyssä kirjavinkkauksessa ja kyselyyn vastasi kaksi Turun alakoulujen 5-luokkaa. Vastaajia oli yh-teensä 40. Kyselyn tavoitteena oli selvittää 5-luokkalaisten mielipiteitä heille pidetystä kirja-vinkkauksesta, selvittää innostiko kirjavinkkaus heitä lukemaan ja kuinka paljon he suurin piirtein lukevat kirjaa.

Kyselytutkimuksen tulosten perusteella voi sanoa, että kirjavinkkaus oli onnistunut tehtävässään innostaa oppilaita lukemaan. Tulosten perusteella oppilaat halusivat lukea jonkin heille vinkatuista kirjoista ja jopa muutamat niistä, jotka eivät pitäneet lukemisesta, halusivat lukea jonkin heille vinkatuista kirjoista.

This study concetrates on the important aim of reading skills. Here is clarified the meaning what reading gives to a person and also how the reading habits have changed. This study tells about why reading is not interested by children and youngsters anymore and is the every day developing tecknology a threat to the reading hobby.

This study clarifies what book talk is, how it is done and who can do book talk. Also what other ways there are to do book talk or other ways to encourage people to read more. Here it is also told the meaning of libraries and schools co-work when it comes to encourage children to read. The main library of Turku city is doing book talk for 2nd and 5th grade students.

This study was mainly theoretical and the method used was questionnaire survey. The goal is to understand the results of the questionnaire survey. The results of the survey can not be generalized. The questionnaire survey was held in the main library of Turku where a book talk session tool place. There were 5th grade students to answer the survey. The main goal of this survey was to find out the opinions the students had about the book talk that was held to them, if the book talk encouraged them to read and how often do the students usually read books.

The results of the survey show that the book talk sessions held to these students were successful because most of the students wanted to read the books they were told about. Also many of those students who answered they didn’t usually like reading, answered that they would be interested in reading those books showed during the book talk.
