Syftet med detta examensarbete är att undersöka på vilka sätt pedagogerna främjar fysisk aktivitet och hälsosamma kostvanor hos barnen utgående från riktlinjerna för småbarnspedagogik. De centrala frågeställningarna i vårt examensarbete är: På vilket sätt främjar pedagogerna goda kostvanor hos barnen inom småbarnspedagogiken? På vilket sätt främjar pedagogerna fysisk aktivitet hos barnen inom småbarnspedagogiken? Vilka riktlinjer följer pedagogerna för att främja fysisk aktivitet och hälsosamma kostvanor inom småbarnspedagogiken? Undersökningen genomfördes med hjälp av kvalitativa intervjuer med fyra utbildade lärare inom småbarnspedagogik som respondenter.
Vår teoretiska del behandlar bland annat riktlinjer för främjandet av fysisk aktivitet och hälsosamma kostvanor inom småbarnspedagogiken samt vikten av fysisk aktivitet och hälsosamma kostvanor hos barn. Vi behandlar även lekens betydelse för den fysiska utvecklingen, motivation för fysisk aktivitet, skillnader mellan förr och nu samt metoder för att främja fysisk aktivitet och hälsosamma kostvanor hos barn.
Undersökningen visade att lärarna inom småbarnspedagogiken utgår från grunderna för planen för småbarnspedagogik samt den lokala planen för småbarnspedagogik. Undersökningen visade även att lärarna inom småbarnspedagogiken anser att det är betydelsefullt att främja fysisk aktivitet och hälsosamma kostvanor hos barn och att det är en stor del av vardagen på daghemmet. The purpose of this thesis is to examine the ways in which early childhood education teachers promote physical activity and healthy dietary habits on the basis of the guidelines of early childhood education. The central questions in our thesis are the following: In what ways do early childhood education teachers promote children’s healthy dietary habits in early childhood education? In what ways do early childhood education teachers promote children’s physical activity in early childhood education? What guidelines do early childhood education teachers follow in order to promote physical activity and healthy dietary habits in early childhood education? This study was conducted by means of using qualitative interviews with four early childhood education teachers as the interview respondents.
Our theoretical section addresses, among other things, the guidelines for promoting physical activity and healthy dietary habits in early childhood education, as well as the importance of physical activity and healthy dietary habits for children. We also adress the importance that play has for children’s physical development, motivation for physical activity, differences between before and now, and also methods that are used for promoting children’s physical activity and healthy dietary habits.
Our study showed that early childhood education teachers work according to the guidelines for the national core curriculum for early childhood education and care and the local curricula for early childhood education and carein their work. Our study also showed that teachers in early childhood education consider that it is important to promote children’s physical activity and healthy dietary habits, and that it is an important part of the daily routine at the kindergarten.
