The aim of the thesis was to find out what is employee perception about the actions of organizational citizenship and organizational citizenship skills. It was on the interest of the commissioner to find how the overall psychosocial well-being of the work community can be improved by improving the awareness of these two topics. This included the ways of working, understanding of the topic and views on teamwork and organizational citizenship behavior of employees working at KOy Pikipruukki.
The method of study used in this thesis was qualitative. The researched data was collected from 13 employees working at KOy Pikipruukki at various positions. Data was collected by using a half-structured thematic questionnaire interview. The data collected was analyzed by using a deductive-inductive content analysis method.
The results of this study show that understanding and knowing what organizational citizenship behavior and skills fluctuates between individual employees. According to the study, some employees have a relatively good understanding of the topic and some do not. The interviewees understood organizational citizenship behavior as ability to cooperate well, having responsibility over their own work and ability to communicate constructively among other things. The importance of organizational citizenship behavior and skills were considered very important in the work community but were not understood as broad concept as they are. All respondents could identify important organizational citizenship attributes and point attributes that could be improved.
