Syftet med studien var att undersöka föräldrars åsikter gällande fokus på familjen inom skolhälsovården, och vidare ifall det verkar finnas ett behov av en mer familjecentrerad omvårdnad som skulle inkludera barnet och dess familj. Som teoretisk utgångspunkt valdes Betty Neumans systemteori, där begreppet klientsystemet är det mest väsentliga för denna studien; familjen som klient inom skolhälsovården.
Utgående från en kvantitativ studiedesign gjordes en enkätundersökning bland föräldrar, vars barn går i årskurs 1 i en svenskspråkig grundskola i Österbotten. De delar som enkäten bestod av var föräldrarnas åsikt gällande skolhälsovårdens fokusområde, stödets tillräcklighet samt kontakt och samarbete mellan föräldrar och skolhälsovårdare.
Deltagarantalet i enkätundersökningen uppgick till 37 informanter från tre olika svenskspråkiga skolor i Österbotten, Finland. Det erhållna resultatet presenteras med hjälp av olika typer av diagram. Studien visar på att kontakten och samarbetet mellan föräldrar och skolhälsovårdare fungerar bra samt att föräldrarna upplever stödet från skolhälsovårdaren som tillräckligt. Dock verkar det inte finnas ett tillräckligt fokus på familjen inom skolhälsovården utan att fokus ligger endast på det enskilda barnet, utifrån föräldrarnas synvinkel. I resultatet framkommer en efterfrågan och ett behov bland föräldrarna av en mer familjecentrerad omvårdnad samt en helhetssyn hos skolhälsovårdaren. The aim of the study was to inquire into parents’ opinions concerning family focus within the school health services, and furthermore if there seems to be a need of a more family centered care that would include the child and its’ family. As theoretical framework, Betty Neuman’s systems model was chosen, where the most essential concept for this study is the
client system; the client within school health services is the family.
In accordance to a qualitative study a survey was carried out amongst parents, whose children attend first grade in a Swedish primary school in Ostrobothnia. The parts that the survey consisted of is the parents’ opinions concerning the area of focus within the school health services, the support sufficiency and the contact and cooperation between parents and the school nurse.
The number of participants in the survey was totally 37 informants from three different Swedish schools in Ostrobothnia, Finland. The received results is presents with different types of charts. The study shows that the contact and the cooperation between parents and the school nurse is functioning, and that the parents experience that the support from the school nurse is sufficient. However, it seems that the focus on the family is not sufficient within the school health services and that the focus lies on the child itself, from the parents’ point of view. In the results a request and a need among the parents of a more family centered care is expressed, as well as a more wholistic approach by the school nurse.
