I did my thesis for Oy Sports Car Center Ab with the aim of investigating whether the increased supply of electric and hybrid cars has changed sales shares and exported the market mainly from diesel. News channels have been written against diesel cars for a few years now and are predicted to disappear from the street scene in the next few years. I carried out my research by making a comparison of the differences in sales in 2018 and 2019 with the data I obtained from the company’s database. I used the research period 1.1-30.9. in both years. This gave me a comprehensive picture of how sales have developed in terms of propulsion in the company. The investigation revealed that diesel sales had fallen slightly, but market share had virtually been lost to petrol-powered cars, the group that had grown the most in the comparison. Contrary to expectations, sales of electric and hybrid cars had remained fairly similar in percentage terms, although sales volumes had increased. In the company, my research will be utilized in planning future procurements. The study provides information on which propulsion sells and in which direction the market is developing. However, it must be remembered that the electronic revolution in the car industry is only ahead, so no one can predict the future here either.
