Opinnäytetyön aiheena on omaishoitajien hyvinvoinnin tukeminen.
An informal care situation always affects the whole family that partakes in it. For the care situation to function properly, the carer has to be capable of effectively attending to the person that is taken care of caretaken. Hence the carer is required to be apt to handle the situation in regard to their personal life, functionality and health. For this to be efficiently managed, the caring arrangement will have to be supported be the laws and services provided by the state and society.
This thesis examines the support provided to personal caregivers. It has been constructed as a practical study, and it was commissioned by the City of Turku. As a result of our research, we constructed a service guide for the carers that currently have a contract with the city. The aim of the guide is to expand the knowledge the carers currently have of the information and services that can increase their well-being. Both, the information and the services, are likely to be required at some point within the caring arrangement. Sufficient help and support promotes the well-being of the caregiver, the caretaken and their families.
While constructing our guide, we have collected information from other similar guides, websites and from people employed in the field. To bring out the perspective of carers, we have also employed a series of focus-group interviews. Our service guide will assist carers in finding out what kind of support is required and available in their personal situation. We hope this can reduce the uncertainty of the carers and provide them with better information on where to get help and support.
