The thesis had a working life orientation, and its point of departure was the disability ser- vices day and work activity employees’ experiences related to the necessity of peer support and sharing. The purpose of the thesis was to increase knowledge of work wellbeing. The aim was to describe the employees’ views on the significance of network co-operation for their wellbeing at work. The thesis aimed to clarify whether there already was network co- operation between the day and work activity services in the Jyväskylä region and whether there were any needs or wishes related to it.
The topic is socially of great current interest because the day activities will be reformed so that would promote participation and working life opportunities according to the quality criteria issued by the Kehitysvamma-alan asumisen neuvottelukunta [The Advisory Board for Disabled Peoples’ Housing Services]. The legislation on disability services will also be changed.
The target group consisted of employees of the day activity services in the Jyväskylä region. The thesis had a qualitative research approach. The data for the study was collected by using theme interviews. The total number of the interviews was seven. The data from interviews was analysed by using inductive content analysis.
According to the results, there is need for network co-operation in the Jyväskylä region. The employees were motivated to connect with other actors in the nearby area. Common de- velopment of operations and organizing events was found important and refreshing. The challenges of the co-operation were the lack of a person in charge, coordinating schedules, rush and the lack of adequate resources. The results led to the conclusion that network co- operation was found to increase work wellbeing. Further research could study the impact of network co-operation at the client level.
