Tiivistelmä
This Bachelor’s thesis examines the taxation of social media influencers. The project objective was to prepare four podcast episodes for commissioning company HP Economics Oy. The actuality and discussion around the topic were vital for the commissioning company. HP Economics Oy which wants to brand the company as a modern accounting firm by these episodes about the topic.

The thesis consists of four elements: theory part, survey for social media influencers, interviewing three taxation professionals and gathering all the previous elements in the form of podcast episodes. The theory concentrates on the taxation of social media influencers. The taxation of income, deduction of expenses, choosing company form and VAT are discussed. The theory part built up the foundation for providing a survey for social media influencers. In the survey, the taxation needs of social media influencers were examined. The theory and survey formed a set of questions for professionals. Three strong professionals in taxation were interviewed to answer those questions. The podcast episodes collected all the elements together.

The theory part showed that the taxation of social media influencers does not differ from other entrepreneurs or industries. The special schemes and the methods of working in the industry create special cases in taxation. The survey showed that there are needs for social media influencers to improve their basic taxation knowledge. The interviews showed that professionals with long expertise add value and knowledge that cannot be found from the theory.

HP Economics Oy is responsible for marketing and sharing the podcast episodes. Due to the covid-19 pandemic, the schedule is unclear but the author´s strong recommendation is to distribute the podcasts during the year 2020. The project is beneficial for the commissioning company. It has a modern way of reaching the target group with a credible product. For social media influencers, a four-episode podcast can be accessed and listened free of charge. In addition, the professionals interviewed benefit from the project by understanding the current needs of the social media influencing industry.
