In my thesis, I examine how children experienced a modified learning environment in kindergarten from the perspective of their own activities and inclusion. The object of research was a kindergarten, where a change in the learning environment was made in the direction of pedagogical spatial thinking. The starting point for the change has been the Early Childhood Education Act, which entered into force in 2018, and the foundations of the early childhood education plan, which draw attention to the kindergarten's pedagogical learning environment.
The aim of the study was to make children's voices heard. The research material was obtained by interviewing seven five- to six-year-old children in two groups. Children were asked for their opinion on the new learning environment, and their wishes and suggestions for its development. The research was qualitative. Category analysis was used to analyze the research data.
The results of the study showed that the children felt that the activity in the renewed learning environment was good. According to the research results, the involvement of children in the planning, assessment and implementation of the learning environment should be taken into account more. They considered the support of educators and caregivers important in early childhood education activities and emphasized the possibility of calming down during the daycare day.
