This research focuses on the importance of an adequate new employee orientation commissioned by Ravintotalot Oy. The purpose of this thesis is to find out the effective ways of orienting new employees and to support the commissioning company by providing efficient ways of carrying out the orientation program. Moreover, the research of this thesis aims to find the ways and process of ensuring an adequate orientation. The study also demonstrates how the orientation program aids in building an effective business strategy and productive workforce.
The theoretical part describes the theory of new employee orientation, the process of orientation, and the objectives, challenges, benefits of ensuring an adequate orientation program and organizational culture. The research used in this study was a qualitative research method. A semi-structured interview was chosen for data collection. The interviews were carefully recorded and explained further. For the analysis of data collected five themes were categorized in order to cover all the necessary information.
The research findings about the orientation program, culture, strategy and welcoming gestures were positive with some respondents however, there were many unclear points and confusions. Considering the results through the research some ideas were provided to the case company via recommendations, which will aid in achieving the future goal of the company.
