The thesis reflects on the meaning of art, the ways art produces information and art as a means of being. It exposes different ways of looking at scenery and ponders a place of a human as part of the nature. It claims that the photography is, on one hand, a remnant of reality; on the other hand, a language that masks reality.
The hypothesis of the thesis is that photographs depict nature as a story that satisfies whatever needs we have. It maintains the language with which the story is told. Because a photograph is an impression of the truth, the story will also be considered true and the nature resembling the photograph.
Now, the story has reached its turning point. We will have to renew our relationship with nature. We will have to find a new language to tell about the nature and depict it. The main questions of the thesis are: How to find this language, and how to make it visible?
The thesis is a dialogue of photography, literature and the hikes in the landscape. They all turn into the written thesis at hand and into a book of photographs and writings, the artistic part of the thesis.
The conclusion of the thesis is that a photograph is more than a manifestation of the external world; it is more than a creation of body and mind; it is an impression that forms when we meet the world together with it. A photograph is a language that originates in this meeting.
