Tiivistelmä
Tässä opinnäytetyössä pohdin YouTube-videoiden ja sosiaalisen median merkitystä omaan taiteilijaidentiteettiini. Keskityin taideopintojeni aikana pääosin YouTube-videoiden tekemiseen. Sen piti aluksi olla väliaikaista, mutta videoista tulikin pysyvä ja tärkeä osa minua ja taiteentekemistäni.
Käsittelen tekstissä asioita, jotka saivat minut innostumaan videoiden tekemisestä ja miten paljon videoille tekemäni taide eroaa muusta taiteestani. Populaarikulttuuri ja fanitaide on videoillani vahvasti läsnä. Pohdin tekstin kautta, millaisia vaikutuksia sillä on ollut omaan taiteilijakuvaani ja itsetuntooni. Pohdin fanitaiteen asemaa, sekä tutkin millainen alusta sosiaalinen media on taiteen luomiselle.
Esittelen myös taiteellisen opinnäytetyöni Este, Kysymys, joka pysyy sekä Tila, jotka syntyivät kirjallisen opinnäytetyön aiheen pohjalta. Kirjallisen opinnäytetyöni kautta opin antamaan itselleni luvan olla rennompi taiteen tekemisen suhteen. Olen kamppaillut taiteilijaidentiteettini kanssa pohtiessani, millaista taidetta haluan tehdä. Minulla on ollut
paineita ja odotuksia, mutta kirjallisen opinnäytetyöni myötä olen ymmärtänyt, että minulla on vapaus tehdä juuri sellaista taidetta kuin haluan, ilman huonoa omaatuntoa. This thesis reflects on the importance of YouTube videos and social media to the author’s artist identity. During her art studies, the author mainly focused on making YouTube videos. It was first temporary at but then videos became a permanent and important part of the art making.
The thesis addresses factors that fascinated about making videos and how much the art for the videos differ from author’s other art. Popular culture and fan art is strongly present in the videos. The thesis reflects on the effects fan art has had on the artist image and self-esteem. It reflects on the status of fan art, as well as what kind of platform social media is for creating art.
The artistic thesis Barrier, A Question That Remains and Condition inspired by the thesis theme is also presented.
The written thesis allowed the author to be more relaxed about making art. Finding the artist identity and the art to be created has been a struggle. Writing the thesis has provided the author with the understanding of the freedom to do exactly the kind of art one desires.
