This thesis was implemented as a functional project which had a purpose of producing an educational video considering putting on and taking off sterile and disposable gloves, to support teaching in Satakunta University of Applied Sciences (SAMK). The aim of the project was to provide nursing educational material in English, as there is a lack of it in SAMK. The product of the project supports students in independent learning. The project was done by using the Hybrid methodology, which is a mixture of Waterfall and Agile methods.
The theoretical knowledge part was based on reliable and up to date sources, and it deals with the importance of aseptic techniques and hand hygiene including hand washing, hand disinfection and the adherence of hand hygiene. It describes the precautions that should be taken before applying and after removing protective gloves. The misuse of protective gloves is discussed as well as suggestions on how this can be minimized.
The video was shot mainly in the school facilities. The video depicts the applications of hand disinfectant before applying any protective gloves. It also shows the steps on how to apply both disposable and sterile gloves. The video is supported with a voice-over to aid to watcher in understanding what is been done. The video is supported mainly by the recommendations of THL, the Finnish Institute for health and Welfare (THL) and World Health Organization (WHO). Corrections were made to the video, based on the received feedback from the supervisors.
