Differences between USA hockey and Finnish junior hockey structures and player paths.

Abstract

This thesis is about learning the basic principals of USA Hockey ADM (athlete development model) and DMSP (the developmental model of sport participation) that is used in Finnish junior ice hockey. Benefits of both models and how they’re used in junior ice hockey programs. Thesis includes facts from both models and how they work in everyday life, based on my experience as a coach. I used example clubs Kalamazoo Wings, Michigan and Junior Pelicans, Lahti where I have coached and worked for.

Opinnäytetyössäni kerron ADM- sekä DMSP- mallien perus periaatteet. ADM-mallia käytetään Yhdysvalloissa ja DMSP-mallia Suomessa nuorten urheilijoiden kehittämisessä. Kerron molempien mallien hyödyt ja kuinka niitä voidaan käyttää nuorten jääkiekkoilijoiden kehittämisessä arjessa. Hyödynnän omaa valmennus kokemustani ja käytänkin esimerkkeinä Kalamazoo Wings sekä Junior Pelicans joukkueita, joissa olen itse valmentanut.
