This bachelor- level thesis examines the latest event and meeting industry trends. The aim of the thesis is to develop the ATLAS Business Tourism Special Interest Group Conference. The thesis is a research-oriented thesis done using qualitative methods.
The thesis goes through the most relevant event and meeting industry trends, and how they can be utilised in future ATLAS Business Tourism SIG Conferences and events. The topic is important for the continuity of the SIG segment and for reviving the network by developing the conference. This thesis was commissioned by Haaga-Helia.
This thesis presents the ATLAS Business Tourism SIG Conference 2019, its processes, production, the event days, and the results and development ideas for future Business Tourism SIG Conferences.
Business tourism now represents between one-third and one-quarter of all tourism spending. It is safe to say that the revival of the education network for this tourism sector is crucial.
