Tiivistelmä
The objective of the study is to find out the factors and characteristics that could make Peru a potential market for Finnish Clean Technologies companies to do business; this information will benefit Sofi Filtration Oy to help the company in deciding to go to the Peruvian market and the design of the best business entry strategy for the company. Sofi Filtration Oy is a relatively new Cleantech company founded in 2011 and is looking for new markets to extend its international business activities.

The theoretical framework is based on the current internationalization theories to emerging markets, international business strategies, megatrends, and sub-trends 2030; the World Bank report helps to understand which the special considerations are to have in the count at the moment to evaluate the business potentiality of the countries.

The study follows an abductive research approach because it uses both the deductive and inductive approaches. Moreover, it follows an exploratory analysis that seeks to understand the context in which Sofi Filtration Oy. should consider the Peruvian mining market attractive to start a business. To fully understand this phenomenon, international business theories and secondary data were reviewed to create a theoretical framework applied in the empirical part. Later, qualitative data was collected through semi-structured interviews, and specific secondary data was also gathered (like the World Bank report and consultancy agencies reports). Finally, the data is analyzed to understand the Peruvian mining market potential phenomenon for Clean technologies companies, specifically for the reality of Sofi Filtration Oy.

The research concludes that there is a market to explore and exploit in the Peruvian mining water treatment for Finnish Cleantech technologies. The mining industry presents a need for clean technologies solutions due to government pressure or social pressure to protect natural resources like water. Moreover, the market players are willing to change the way they were operating in the past to enter into a new era with a cleaner operation that will benefit not only the environment but also their revenues. However, more specific studies are needed to have a better picture of the market.
