Tiivistelmä
The purpose of this study is to increase the understanding of Lean's theory and to illustrate the implications of Lean's philosophy. The Lean definition is a theory that aims to optimize value production, productivity, and performance by continuously eliminating all nonvalue-added activities from various process procedures with the needs of the customers. Lean manufacturing is often linked with Six Sigma, which emphasizes reduction of process variation (or its converse smoothness). Lean Six Sigma is a business improvement methodology that combines tools from both Lean manufacturing and Six Sigma. Lean manufacturing focuses on manufacturing cost reduction, whereas traditional Six Sigma focuses on defect reduction. Not only does Lean Six Sigma decrease procedure errors and waste, but it also provides a framework for overall improvement in workplace culture. By implementing Lean Six Sigma, through process optimization, the mindset of staff and executives transitions to one that emphasizes on development and quality development. This transition in culture and an organization's mindset maximizes productivity and increases profitability. Tools and techniques of Lean Six Sigma will be introduced as well.
